The Back Story:

1969 or 1970 limited sportsman champ was very successful in conquering the high banks of LV, here scoring one of his many wins.

Tragically, the year Barry won the high points championship, he wasn’t around to collect his hard earned hardware at the LV banquet.  As the story goes, he was sitting parked in his car in the westbound lane on Main St in his hometown of North Bennington VT when a drunk driver slammed into his car, taking his life way to early.

Son Tom Purdy later went on to carry the Purdy racing tradition at the CVRA and Valley circuits.

Second Photo: Barry Purdy was an extraordinary talent who was poised to become one of the greatest. He was a natural.
