The Back Story:

One of the biggest shows put on at Lebanon Valley in the 1980’s was the very first Big Rig race on the High Banks.  Traffic was backed up for miles both ways, and those in the sellout crowd were lucky to find a seat.  Howie Commander did his best as a crafty promoter, and had LV Legend T.C. suit and to tackle the high banks in one of these behemoths.   As usual, T.C. proved once again he can, and will drive anything, running solidly in the top 5 and threatening for the win (I believe T.C. drove the team truck to the Murtaugh #33).  Also in the field to draw attention to this class, was the demure and attractive female driver Shawna Robinson.  While her frame didn’t look like one who would be steering the massive machines, Shawna proved worthy and was a winner and consistent finisher in the division before taking her talents to NASCAR.

As with most novelty acts, the show excitement wore off soon, and just as fast as they came in, the Big Rigs were left as only an interesting part of Lebanon Valley trivia.
