The Back Story:

Top Photo: Two things stand out most about Eddie San Soucie.  One is that he won the very first official Lebanon Valley sportsman feature on May 2nd, 1987, in this car.  To draw extra interest in the newly formed class, Howie upped the purse that night to $1,000 to win.  The purse was originally based on car count, with the winners share topping off at $500, and with car counts continually in the 50’s and 60’s, the purse eventually was set at $500, the current payout, to my knowledge.

The 2nd thing Eddie San Soucie will be remembered for is the flip he executed when he was competing in the Modified division.  At the start of a heat in 1984, Eddie caught a wheel and cart wheeled into the area separating the race track from the grandstands, finally coming to a rest vertically along the catch fence.  Eddie was OK, the fans were saved, but the same couldn’t be said for Eddie’s machine.

Second Photo: Eddie Piloting this #66 back when He was a Fonda regular.
