TThe Back Story:

Top: This was 1967 and the 1st car I ever drove.  It belonged to Roger Tordoff, and the guy that was supposed to drive it got cold feet, so I wound up in it.  I was doing about 5th or 6thwhen the 2nd turn wall jumped out in front of me. (the 1st of about 300 wall bangers in my career). We had flat towed it out from Schaghticoke, and ended up bringing it home on Sunday in a 10 wheel dump truck. After that we ran Malta for the rest of the year.

Second: This was my pride and joy, I bought it half built from Larry Curtis and ran it in 1968, This picture was taken by Chuck Ely and in fact, he took a few practice laps in it that night. I blew my 312 up two weeks before and this our replacement motor ended up being the first 289 run in the sportsman class.

Third: This was the end of the #104 after a double rollover on the last night of the season. I Took out a caution light and some wire fencing on the 4th turn.  I immediately started building up a ’56 mercury but sold it ½ built after I won a free trip to Vietnam.

Fourth: This was a modified owned by Lou Christopher who I worked with at GE, it scared both him and his driver during warm up laps the 1stnight out.  I was in the pits that night so he gave me a chance.  It was the fastest thing I was ever in.  I drove it about 10 nights in 1971 or ‘72. Think I came in 4th in a heat race. Unfortunately, Lou had health problems that summer and I believe he sold it in the off season.
