The Back Story:

PA Dirt Modified standout and former Nascar driver Tighe Scott lit up the Northeast racing scene with his always spectacular performing & looking #28’s.  Scott always had the financing to operate a 1st class operation, and actually came damn close to winning the Daytona 500 for not a bad pit stop, I think the year was 1979.

I can say with 100% conviction though this car ended up in the Middletown drainage ditch a few weeks later during the Orange County Eastern States weekend.  I was there that day, and watched as Tighe and Harold Bunting in the Blue Hen #30 did duel in the last chance qualifiers race, the two tangled, and the end result was the 28 upside down in the drink, with a very upset Tighe hurling mud balls at Bunting.  Ahhh, the good old days, when a score could be settled with a chunk of clay and a good arm.
